Ed. Süleyman was exaggerating here for effect, no doubt. Because, although Urban's monster cannon had been able to destroy Constantinople's walls at many points, Emperor Constantine's gallant band had put up a stiff resistance -- and it still took fifty days of siege and bombardment before the great city fell, finally and utterly. Süleyman had no such time to spare on taking Castle Drago. But he was optimistic that Drago's citizens were unaware of such details -- or that they might overlook them out of fear.
